CLUB RULES BOTH PONDS
  1. Members only, there are NO Day Tickets, NO guest fishing or loaning of membership books.
  2. Members may fish with maximum of 2 rods and only two rods per peg.
  3. Children fishing. For Membership categories see previous page
  4. All members must possess an Environment Agency Rod Licence and be able to produce rod licence and club membership book when requested by club bailiffs or any club member. NO photos or copies will be accepted.
  5. Fishing is from sunrise to sunset only. No overnight fishing or fishing into the dark. If using a vehicle, please check the gate opening and closing times.
  1. You are responsible for any litter present in your peg, which should, if necessary, be cleared before commencing fishing. All litter should be taken home including discarded tackle/line and cigarette butts.
  2. Only one barbless hook to be used on each rod (no crushed or micro barbed hooks to be used). No double or treble hooks. Pallatrax hooks may be used. Only single hook rigs are allowed. (Bailiffs may check).
  3. Each angler must have a landing net of a size appropriate to the species being targeted, which must be set up and ready to use prior to the commencement of fishing. Anglers targeting carp should see rule 29.
  4. No pike fishing allowed or wire traces.
  5.  No live or dead fish baits, no nuts to be used (including tiger nuts).
  6. No bait in opened tins/cans on the bank. Canned sweetcorn, particles, meat etc. to be brought to pegs in a reuseable bag or bait box.
  7. No drones to be flown over the site and no bait boats to be used on the ponds for any reason.
  8. No fish to be removed from site or transferred between ponds or canal.
  9. No alcohol allowed on bank.
  10. No BBQs or open fires to be lit.
  11. No trees and shrubs to are to be trimmed. Please remember that this is a Nature Reserve and all wildlife and plant life is protected. Do not damage or deface anything on site.
  12. Under no circumstances are fish to be placed directly on the ground or platforms.
  13. No braided mainline other than for ‘spod’ and marker rods.
  14. All leads, feeders, controllers etc. MUST BE FREE RUNNING so that in the event of the mainline breaking they will be released from the mainline. They may be LIGHTLY ‘semifixed’ but MUST under LIGHT pressure become free running on the mainline. Lead clip users must comply with the above rule and under no circumstances be relying on the lead clip to solely release the lead or feeder in the event of a mainline breakage. The so called ‘magic twig’ may not be used as part of a rig on the ponds. Your rig may be checked to ensure you are complying with these rules.
  15. No backstops – be they knots, pegs, beads or otherwise should be added to the main line.
  1. Anglers with baited hooks in the water MUST be with their rods and within their peg area. If you need to leave your peg wind in your rods and to protect wildlife, remove your hook baits.
  2. An angler’s end tackle/rig must not encroach beyond hallway between himself/herself and the anglers on either side. In addition, if there is an angler directly opposite on the far bank the angler should not cast beyond halfway.
  3. Parking is at your own risk and the club accepts no responsibility for any damage caused by other visitors to the site. Do not park on or obstruct the road way leading to the cottages at back of the small pond. Do not park on the grass or in front of the containers as access may be needed at any time.
  4. Anglers must park responsibly and respect the needs of any disabled visitor/angler
  ADDITIONAL RULES FOR EAST POND Landing specimen fish, particularly carp, from our platforms can be challenging.  Members should be aware that lengthwise, a six-foot landing net handle may prove inadequate.  Members using two rods should be aware that ‘double takes’ are not a rare occasion on the east pond and thought should be given to dealing with this situation.  
  1. Anglers targeting carp must use a minimum, mainline strength of 12lb.
  2. Carp must not be retained in a keepnet, retaining sling or sack. They may be retained safely, for a minimum amount of time, in a landing net to prepare for a photograph.
  3. When fishing for carp you must use an adequate, designed for purpose unhooking mat or carp cradle, which must be ready for use prior to the commencement of fishing. No sharing mats between pegs
  4. If being photographed out of the water, carp must be on an unhooking mat or always held low over the unhooking mat.
  5. All carp anglers on the small pond must be able to deal with landing a large carp so each must have a pair of forceps (for hook removal if needed) and an adequate landing net – i.e., triangular shaped with arms at least 36 inches (92cm) or circular/oval shaped with at least a diameter of 30 inches (76cm). A carp care kit is recommended.
ADDITIONAL RULES FOR CANAL ONLY (BACJCC rules) Especially when fishing for pike on canal wire traces must always be used and not less than 15 inches (30cm) in length. No treble hooks larger than size 8 to be used. No treble hooks made of stainless steel to be used. No treble hooks with more than one barb to be used. Traces and main line not less than 12lb and no gaffs or pike gags to be used. Cars must not be driven along canal bank, even to drop off tackle.
