Development of the Ponds

1993 – Sugar Mill Ponds was a derelict site filled with all kinds of rubbish

1995 – The first stage of transforming the ponds involve draining water from the east pond and clearing out all the rubbish.

Then a job of landscaping the ponds began..

..a car park, footpaths and fishing platforms were built.

1999 & Today – The ponds are now a haven enjoyed by the local community, schools and wildlife alike.

Sugar Mill Ponds

Please can everyone using the Sugar Mill Ponds for exercise and fishing remind themselves that the government guidelines remain in place regarding social distancing. Please keep at least 2 metres away from anyone not from your household. Be considerate of others and always use rubbish bins provided. Be mindful the dog bins are used only for dog waste. We kindly ask all anglers and users of the ponds to take home all rubbish where possible as collections are limited at the moment.
We have worked hard to make sure the area has remained open during the whole lockdown and we really appreciate your support on this
Many thanks
